The Governing Board believes that personal integrity is essential for personal and academic success.
The Board expects students to respect the educational purpose underlying all school activities. All students need to prove to themselves that they can do successful work as a result of their own efforts. The Board expects that students will not cheat, lie, or plagiarize.
"Academic honesty" means that all academic work is the legitimate, authentic work of the student. Students submit tests, essays, projects, and homework that are free from fraud or deception. When taking tests or submitting homework, students rely on their own knowledge and preparation, unless collaboration is directed. Students credit all sources used.
Each school shall provide an environment that encourages honesty. Students must know that their teachers will not ignore or condone cheating and that anyone discovered cheating will be counseled, as well as disciplined a district-wide Academic Honesty policy will be established, maintained, and upheld.
