Employment Of Relatives

No person shall receive preferential consideration for employment based upon employment of a relative; however, relatives may hold positions in the district subject to certain restrictions.

For the purposes of this policy, relatives are defined as the spouse, minor child, dependent or any person related otherwise by blood or marriage, or for whom the employee is legally responsible.

Restrictions:

1. Relatives shall not be in an immediate supervisory relationship to one another.

2. Relatives of the Governing Board Members, Deputy Superintendent, Associate Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Cabinet-Level Directors, Principals and Human Resources Division staff shall not be employed without the specific approval of the Board.

3. When a relative is hired, promoted or reduced to assignment, or has any change in status which will increase salary or fringe benefits, the Board will be notified.
