Elementary School Student Parties

Social parties held for students at school and during the school day shall be governed by the following guidelines:

1. Parties for individuals shall not be held at school, i.e., birthday parties.

2. There may be two parties for each class, one Winter Holiday party and one end-of-the-year party.

3. Uniform refreshments should be served so that all children feel equally considered.

4. Decorations, i.e., place mats, etc., should be made by students as part of the art program.

5. Games or a program as a part of the party, should be appropriate and well-planned by the children under the supervision of the teacher.

6. Experience related to a part of the curriculum should be encouraged if the experience is appropriate for the particular party being planned.

7. If Christmas trees are provided for classrooms, district safety procedures will be followed.

8. There shall be no exchange of presents among students at any time.

High School Seniors Graduation Party

The Principals of the district shall be responsible for the commencement activities of the graduating seniors. They shall supervise and coordinate student body activities connected with senior graduation.

Any and all parties connected with graduation, including the senior "All-Night Party", shall be the responsibility of the parents/guardians of the graduating seniors.

The high school Principal, or his/her representative, shall cooperate with the parents planning the party and shall:

1. Assist in organizing a senior parents'/guardians' group which will be responsible for the party.

2. Provide the senior parents'/guardians' group with the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of senior parents/guardians.

3. Maintain lines of communication between seniors, senior class council, and the senior parents'/guardians' group for publicity and other communication purposes.

The senior parents'/guardians' group shall be responsible for the party and its planning, including:

1. Selecting a suitable location.

2. Informing other parents/guardians of their responsibilities.

3. Providing adequate supervision.

In that the "All-Night Party" is a function of the senior parents'/guardians' group and not a function of the high school or high school student body, all monies used to finance the party must be raised by the parents/guardians and not as a high school or student body activity.
