Graduation Requirements/Standards Of Proficiency

1. Completion of at least 220 credits of classroom instruction or supervised learning activity in grades 9-12 and beginning with the class of 2013, 210 credits of classroom instruction or supervised learning activity in grades 9-12. These must include:

Beginning with the class of 2013,

credits in Career Pathways are not required

Health and Safety 5

Beginning with the class of 2013,

credits in Health and Safety are not required

2. Record of satisfactory citizenship

3. Beginning in the 2003-04 school year and each year thereafter, each student completing grade 12 shall successfully pass the California State High School Exit Exam in language arts and mathematics as a condition of high school graduation. Beginning in 2001-02, students shall take the exit examination in grade 10 and may take the examination during each subsequent administration until each section of the examination has been passed.

4. Supplemental instruction shall be offered to any student who does not demonstrate sufficient progress toward passing the exit examination. For purposes of determining eligibility for supplemental instruction, sufficient progress shall be determined by students' grades and other indicators of academic achievement designated by the district. Supplemental instruction shall include summer school or intervention programs offered during the school year.

5. Exceptions to these requirements may be made by the principal with the concurrence of the Superintendent. Any such exceptions must be based upon the best interests of each individual student. The Governing Board will be notified of any such exceptions.
