When speaking to community groups, the media or other members of the public, individual Board members should recognize that their statements may be perceived as reflecting the views and positions of the Board. Board members have a responsibility to identify personal viewpoints as such and not as the viewpoint of the Board.
All public statements authorized to be made on behalf of the Board shall be made by the Superintendent or other designated representative.
Written communications by Board members, prepared in their capacity as Board members, shall only be made on district-provided stationery. District-provided stationery shall reflect in the letterhead only the names of the members of the Board of Education and Superintendent, and shall only state the district office's address and telephone number. Board members, when communicating in their individual capacity, shall not use stationery which may be confused with official district stationery.
