Energy And Water Conservation
Additionally, the Superintendent or designee shall:
1. Encourage all management, certificated, classified staff, and students to conserve energy at all district facilities. All staff and students will be expected to assist the district in conserving energy and water
2. Analyze the effect of various utility rate increases on the district budget and develop and implement necessary contingency plans
3. Analyze specific site usage patterns and work cooperatively with central and site administrative staff to identify and implement specific conservation measures
4. Establish and maintain working energy guidelines that specify district standards regarding energy use and conservation techniques based on industry standards
5. Develop and implement specific district and school site conservation plans
6. Inspect district facilities and operations and make recommendations for maintenance and capital expenditures which may help the district achieve the more efficient use of energy and reduce irrigation needs
7. Identify funding opportunities and incentive programs to assist the district in achieving its conservation goals
8. Consider alternative energy sources as appropriate
The Superintendent or designee shall be responsible to coordinate the district energy conservation plan.
The following operations shall also be reviewed to further the district's energy and water conservation goals:
1. Educational programs
2. Classroom and building management and maintenance
3. Food services and equipment maintenance
4. Landscaping selection and irrigation
5. Transportation services and maintenance
6. New construction
7. Administrative operations
8. Use of facilities by outside groups
To enlist the support which is essential to achieving the district's energy and water conservation goals, the principal at each site shall:
1. Solicit input from staff, students, and parents/guardians related to district energy and water use
2. Develop strategies designed to ensure cooperation from students and staff in all conservation efforts
3. Recognize those who reduce energy and water use
