Probationary/Permanent Status

Employees newly hired in regular positions within the classified service shall be considered probationary employees until having satisfactorily completed the designated probationary period of nine months for classified unit member and twelve months for classified management and confidential employees.

The nine-month and twelve-month probationary periods shall be deemed to include days of absence for illness or injury to which the employee is entitled without loss of pay pursuant to the requirements and authority of the Education Code. The probationary period shall commence on the date of the individual's employment.

Regular classified employees who have satisfactorily completed the designated probationary period of either nine or twelve months shall become permanent classified employees of the district.

Employees newly promoted to positions within the classified service shall be considered probationary employees in the new assignment until satisfactorily completing a six-month probationary period.
