Comprehensive High School Graduation Requirements/ Standards Of Proficiency
Students shall receive diplomas of graduation from high school only after completing the prescribed course of study and meeting the standards of proficiency established by the district.
To qualify for senior high graduation, a student must successfully meet the following requirements:
1. A passing score on all sections of the California High School Exit Exam must be achieved. Students with Individualized Education Plans requiring modifications who achieve a passing score shall be eligible for a high school diploma.
2. Pass a course or series of courses that contain Algebra I Standards.
3. Complete the following required units of academic work:

Science (30 semester units) 3

* Physical Science - 10 semester units
* Health Science - 10 semester units
Social Science (30 semester units) 3
* World History - 10 semester units
* American Civilization - 10 semester units
* Political Science - 5 semester units
* Economics - 5 semester units
Requirements for graduation and specified alternative means for completing the prescribed course of study shall be made available to students, parents/guardians and the public. (Education Code 51225.3)

Assessment
The Superintendent or designee shall provide for the periodic screening of assessment instruments for racial, cultural or sexual bias.
Students shall be assessed periodically to measure mastery of basic skills and shall be provided with additional instruction and opportunities to meet the standards established by the district.

Early Graduation
Recognizing that certain academically or vocationally talented students are able to progress through the secondary system at a rate which exceeds that which has been designed to meet all graduation requirements in a full four-year period, the district may, in exceptional cases, grant approval for a student's early graduation.
