
In order to serve the best interests of students and the educational program, the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent or designee to assign certificated personnel to positions for which their preparation, certification, experience and aptitude qualify them.

In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, teachers may be assigned to any school within the district.

Teachers shall be assigned to teach core academic subjects in Title I and non-Title I programs in accordance with the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act pertaining to teacher qualifications. (20 USC 6319, 7801; 5 CCR 6100-6126)

Committee on Assignments
The Board authorizes the Superintendent or designee to establish a Committee on Assignments as allowed by law. With the approval of this committee, the Superintendent or designee may assign full-time teachers with special skills and preparation to teach, with their consent, one or more elective courses outside their credential authorization in an area for which they have special skills or preparation for up to one year. (Education Code 44258.7)
Departmentalized Classes
To provide flexibility in meeting the needs of the educational program, the Superintendent or designee may assign teachers who hold self-contained classroom credentials other than an emergency permit, with their consent, to teach in departmentalized classes. The Superintendent or designee shall, with the assistance of subject matter specialists, establish procedures for verifying the subject matter knowledge of these teachers before making such assignments. (Education Code 44258.3)
Review of Teacher Assignments
The Superintendent or designee shall periodically report to the Board on any teacher misassignments or vacancies. He/she shall report to the Board the results of the County Superintendent's review of district misassignments and vacancies, and shall provide recommendations for remedying any identified issues.
