Known Or Suspected Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting
Section 11166 of the Penal Code requires a Mandated Reporter who has knowledge of or observes a child in his/her professional capacity or within the scope of his/her employment whom he/she knows or reasonably suspects has been the victim of child abuse or neglect to report the known or suspected instance of child abuse or neglect to any police department, sheriff's department, county probation department (if designated by the county to receive reports), or county welfare department (excluding school district police services) immediately or as soon as practically possible by telephone and to prepare and send a written report thereof within 36 hours of receiving the information concerning the incident.
A "Mandated Reporter" is defined by Penal Code section 11165.7, and the Welfare and Institutions Code Section 15630, and includes all district classified and certificated employees, and volunteers who work with dependent adults.
The identity of a Mandated Report fulfilling their reporting obligations under applicable law shall be confidential and disclosed only among agencies receiving, investigating, or prosecuting cases, or officials under proceedings authorized by and according to applicable laws.
I have been informed of the above law, received a copy of Board Policy and Administrative Regulations 5141.4, and Penal Code Sections 11165.7, 11166, 11167, and will comply with their provisions.
