At the time of enrollment, each governing board may require each student to file a written oath or affirmation that he or she either has not earned a degree equivalent to, or higher than, the degree awarded by the program in which he or she is enrolling or is eligible for an exemption from duplicate degree tuition. It is the intent of the Legislature that each governing board conduct selective audits of the sworn statements filed by students.
