Contacts For Business And Selling, And Contributions

To preclude conflicts of interest, employees shall not contact students or their families with the intent to sell general merchandise, books, equipment, or services for the purpose of personal or private business for financial benefit/profit.

Staff members shall not use their status as district employees to secure information such as names, addresses, and telephone numbers for use in personal or private business profit-making ventures.

Staff members shall not promote educational tours on school premises unless there is prior approval by the principal and the tours are sponsored by the PTA, PTO, etc.

Employees engaged in planning, organizing, or leading tours as private businesses shall make it clear that they do not represent the school or district, and do not promote the tours at school. All activities related to private educational tours must be carried on outside of school hours and off school premises. However, school facilities may be used for private business purposes if the organizers qualify for and obtain a permit to use facilities.

Any request for students to bring money to school for any purpose must have the principal's prior approval.

Staff participation in "flower funds," "sickness and bereavement funds," "anniversary funds," and the like shall be a matter of individual discretion.

Staff shall not distribute promotional, political, controversial, or other non-instructional, materials unless approved by the superintendent or designee.
