Issuance of identification Badges

The principal of each school adopting the identification badge system shall:

1. Convene the school safety plan committee and amend the plan to call for visible photographic identification badges.

2. Notify the school community of this requirement.

3. Arrange for the photographing of students and the issuance of identification badges.

4. Ensure that a system of temporary and replacement identification badges is in place prior to enforcement of punitive measures against students. The school may charge a fee for the replacement of lost or stolen badges, not exceeding the cost of reproduction.

5. Accommodate religious objections to the requirement of visible photographic identification badges on a case-by-case basis, keeping the overall goal of student safety in mind.
