Nothwithstanding subdivision (a) of Section 44948 and subdivision (c) of Section 44948.3, the governing board of any school district having an average daily attendance of less than 250 may elect to dismiss probationary employees during the school year pursuant to the provisions of Section 44948.3. Once a district has made an election pursuant to this section, it shall only dismiss probationary certificated employees during the school year pursuant to this section.
