Employment -Illegal and Controlled Substance

Definitions

1. Illegal substances are those substances of which the sale or possession is unlawful.

2. Controlled substances are defined as all substances requiring the prescription of a licensed physician in order to be obtained.

Pre-Employment Testing

The district shall take steps to preclude from employment those job applicants who fail to satisfactorily pass an illegal or controlled substance screening test. (The word "screening" used herein shall mean screening for illegal or controlled substances.)

Applicants for employment will not be required to undergo screening against their will however, those applicants who refuse to accept screening as part of the pre-employment process will not be considered for employment.

All job applicants testing positive for an illegal or controlled substance have not met pre-employment requirements.

All physical examinations and screening tests required by this policy will be at the expense of the district.
