Evaluation Criteria Development.

arrow Previous bar Next arrow

The Curriculum Commission shall develop and recommend to the State Board evaluation criteria for the instructional materials submissions made under Education Code section 60200.1(a)(5) and this article. The criteria shall include, but not be limited to, an assessment of whether any references in a submission which are drawn from another subject matter area are scholarly and accurate in relation to that other subject matter area. In the case of an integrated mathematics submission for grade eight, the criteria shall require that all materials for the multiple-year integrated course or series be evaluated to determine the extent to which those materials address and are aligned with the mathematics standards for the intended disciplines, even though the submission per se is only part of the multiple-year course or series. Prior to adopting the evaluation criteria pursuant to Section 9544, the State Board shall make any modifications it determines necessary and appropriate.
