The Board of Trustees recognizes the importance of identifying potential physical and mental disabilities at an early age so that appropriate treatment can prevent or lessen the damage they may cause. In cooperation with the County Child Health and Disability Prevention Program, the Superintendent or designee shall provide the parents/guardians of all kindergarten students with information regarding the health screening and evaluation services and other benefits provided under, Article 6 of the Health and Safety Code.

The Superintendent or designee shall annually provide the County Child Health and Disability Prevention Program, the State Department of Health Services, and the Department of Education with the information required by Health and Safety Code 124100.

Children entering kindergarten or first grade shall obtain a health assessment as a condition of enrollment.

An already admitted kindergarten or first grade student who is subsequently discovered not to have received the physical examination which was required before admission, shall continue in attendance only if he/she receives the required physical examination and provides documentation of having received such exam no later than ten (10) school days after the parent/guardian is notified.
