Catastrophic Leave Program
The Board of Education has established a catastrophic leave program, which permits employees to donate accrued sick leave credits to a Catastrophic Leave Bank.
Separate Catastrophic Leave Banks are established for the certificated employee bargaining unit, classified employee bargaining unit and the management, supervisory and confidential employee group.
An employee may donate accrued sick leave credits to the Catastrophic Leave Bank that is available to his/her employee group. Donations shall be made under the specific requirements of that catastrophic leave program and shall be strictly voluntary and irrevocable.
When a catastrophic illness or injury incapacitates an employee or a member of his/her family for an extended period of time and the employee has exhausted all paid leaves of absence, the employee may request a withdrawal from his/her Catastrophic Leave Bank under the specific requirements of that catastrophic leave program.
