Career Increment Program (Effective November 13, 2009)

Definition

A career increment has been established in the administrative salary program to recognize by financial stipend those administrators who fulfill the requirements of longevity and satisfactory evaluation that includes verification of professional development.

The career increment shall be in the amount established in the annually adopted administrative salary schedule. One career increment may be earned by each qualifying administrator, and shall be retained as long as the administrator remains qualified.

Eligibility Requirements

An administrator shall be eligible for the career increment the fiscal year following fulfillment of the requirements of longevity and satisfactory evaluation that includes verification of professional development.

1. Longevity

To be eligible, an administrator shall have served a minimum of:

a. Fifteen (15) years in educational service;

b. Ten (10) years in district in an administrative position.

2. Satisfactory Evaluation

a. Satisfactory evaluation in each of the previous three years.

b. Evaluations must include a professional development component verifying participation in professional growth opportunities with evidence of implementation.

Qualification Procedure

A. Applicant Responsibilities

1. The administrator must submit his or her request in writing for career increment to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources on or before June 30 of the year qualifications have been met.

2. Three prior year evaluations with all supporting documents are to be included with the request.

3. Exceptions to the above requirements must be approved by the Superintendent.

Recommendation Procedure

It shall be the responsibility of the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources to audit career increment applications. The Associate Superintendent of Human Resources shall notify each administrator who has fulfilled career increment eligibility requirements of his or her pay status.
