Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate Honors, and Advanced Standing Classes

1. All Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Honors and Advanced Standing classes will be open to all students who have made an informed decision and understand the course expectations. Anyone with an A or B in a College Preparatory class will be invited to enroll in an Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate Honors, or Advanced Standing class.

2. Students who enroll in an Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Honors, or Advanced Standing class are expected to remain in the class for one semester.

3. All students who enroll in an Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate class are expected to take the Advance Placement or International Baccalaureate exam.

4. To continue in the Advanced Placement, Honors, International Baccalaureate, or Advanced Standing class, students are expected to have a "C" or better at the end of the first semester.

At the beginning of each school year, the Superintendent or designee shall notify parents/guardians on the availability of state funds to cover the costs of Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate examination fees pursuant to Education Code 52244. (Education Code 48980)

Any economically disadvantaged student, as defined in Education Code 52241, who is enrolled in an Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate course may apply to the Superintendent or designee to cover the costs of Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate examination fees minus five dollars which shall be paid by the student. (Education Code 52244)
