A parent/legal guardian of a district student may request an intradistrict transfer. Following prescribed procedure, the request shall be made on the form provided by the district for that purpose. Each request shall be tendered to the principal of the school of residence setting forth reason(s) for the transfer.

The parent/guardians of each school age child who is a resident in the district may select the school the child shall attend, irrespective of the particular location of the parent/guardians' residence within the district, subject to the following limitations.

1. No student who currently resides in the attendance area of a school and attends that school shall be displaced by students transferring from outside the attendance area.

2. Enrollment in each school or program in the district shall be subject to each school's or program's capacity, as determined by the Board of Education.

It shall be the policy of the Board that parent requests for intradistrict transfers shall be honored if space is available and no extenuating conditions related to the child's enrollment exist. Applicants will be notified of the status of their request pursuant to Policy/Procedure 5231.
