Sex Offender Notification

arrow Previous bar Next arrow

To protect students and to maintain a safe and secure campus, the Governing Board and California Penal Code prohibit registered sex offenders from entry onto any SCCS facility without prior written permission.

When a law enforcement agency notifies the district about registered sex offenders who may reside or work within district boundaries, the district shall coordinate with law enforcement to determine an appropriate response.

The Superintendent or designee shall establish an ongoing relationship with law enforcement officials to coordinate the receipt and dissemination of information regarding registered sex offenders. In accordance with the current laws and to protect the district and its employees from liability, the Superintendent when he/she deems appropriate may disseminate information about registered sex offenders to the school community to the extent authorized by the law enforcement agency.

Any staff member who has reason to believe that a registered sex offender is accessing SCCS facilities without the knowledge and express permission of the district shall immediately contact the Superintendent or designee. If the registered sex offender is not currently known to the district, the Superintendent or the designated district liaison will then immediately contact law enforcement officials to verify the information and take appropriate action as stated in the administrative regulation.

To protect the district and its employees from liability, employees shall disseminate sex offender information in good faith, and only in the manner and to the extent authorized by the law enforcement agency.

The Superintendent or designee may annually notify parents/guardians of the availability of information about registered sex offenders on the Department of Justice's Internet website.
