Evaluation Of The Superintendent

arrow Previous bar Next arrow

The Board of Trustees believes that an annual evaluation of the Superintendent's performance strengthens working relationships between the Superintendent and the Board. The evaluation process should clarify the Superintendent's role and give the Board and Superintendent an opportunity to jointly identify immediate priorities among the Superintendent's many responsibilities.

Evaluations should also help the Board to monitor progress toward established District goals, objectives and tasks. The evaluations should include commendations in areas of strengths and recommendations for improving effectiveness.

Evaluation Process

The Superintendent and Board shall agree to a mutually acceptable format and process for the evaluation. These procedures shall be part of the Superintendent's employment contract with the District.

The Superintendent's evaluation shall be based on the Superintendent's meeting the expectations of the position description and the achievement of mutually agreed upon performance goals for the school year.

The process shall include specific timelines and procedures for setting performance goals, reviewing the position description, conducting a mid-year review, completion of a Superintendent self-appraisal of performance and preparing the final written evaluation.

The Board shall meet in Closed Session to prepare the evaluation and in Closed Session to meet with the Superintendent to discuss the evaluation.
