The Board of Trustees provides a continuation education program to meet the educational needs of students 16 and 17 years old who are not attending high school or other appropriate educational institutions and who are not legally exempted from compulsory school attendance. (Education Code 48432)

The curriculum offered by the continuation high school shall enable students to meet requirements for high school graduation prescribed in Education Code 51224-51225 and Board Policy for Alternative School Programs.

The Board further expects this program to help students develop self-confidence, responsibility, tolerance and to encourage understanding and obeyance of laws, wise money management, and engagement in constructive recreational activities.

The Superintendent or designee may allow the voluntary enrollment of any student including students under 16 in this program when it is determined to be in the best interest of the student and as space permits.

The Superintendent or designee shall develop administrative regulations governing involuntary transfer of students into the continuation program, including students under the age of 16.

The Superintendent and designee will develop a Code of Behavior and Discipline for the continuation school. When appropriate, the Superintendent or designee will report disciplinary actions to the Board.

The Board shall evaluate its continuation education program and annually report required information to the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
