Naming Of Facility
The Board of Education shall use the following criteria in naming new schools, facilities, and buildings. The criteria are listed in the order of priority of consideration.
This policy does not cover the naming of streets, playground equipment, trees, lunch pavilions, etc., but approval for naming these items must come from the school site council.
No school facility will be given the name of a commercial development.
New Schools/Facilities (including playing fields):
1. In recognition of geographical areas in which the school is located
2. In recognition of the historical/cultural significance of this area
3. In honor of individuals (living or deceased) who have made outstanding contributions to the district or community
