Employee Property Reimbursement

The Governing Board shall not be responsible for the reimbursement of any employee personal property which may be stolen, destroyed or maliciously damaged while being used in district schools.

Reimbursement for personal items used for work-related purposes shall be made only if the principal or designee approved the use of the personal property in school before the property was brought to school and at that time agreed on the value of the property. (Education Code 35213)

Payment for any one loss shall not exceed $300. Reimbursement for vehicle damage shall be limited to payment of the deductible amount of the employee's insurance policy. Reimbursement shall not exceed $300 for damages resulting from malicious acts to a vehicle parked or driven on or adjacent to district premises. Reimbursement shall not be made in the case of collision, theft of an entire vehicle, theft of optional attached equipment such as a radio, tape deck, tapes or cassettes, or damage to a vehicle resulting from actual theft of the vehicle.

No reimbursement shall be made for accidental damage or for any loss suffered because of lack of personal supervision or failure to keep property in a locked area available to the owner.
